Blessed Sacrament School’s Fourth Grade class took a look around the world Tuesday, April 8th when they presented their traditional Heritage Day Program. The School’s 26th annual International Heritage Day was initiated by Michele Banach, Fourth Grade Teacher, who wanted the students to get more in touch with their ethnicity and see the diversity of their class. The event involved 17 pupils representing Africa, Cape Verdes, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Lebanon, Lithuania, Philippines, Poland, and Puerto Rico. Each October the students are asked to think about their cultural heritage and choose their nationality to research and begin to organize International Heritage Day. The boys and girls worked both independently and collaboratively with their creative ideas. They learned how to communicate and orally present their research reports relating to customs, population, location, and cuisine. “It is a celebration project the children will never forget” says Mrs. Banach!
