Registration for the 2014-15 school year has begun. Prospective parents are meeting with Mr. Cook on a weekly basis. All parents are entitled to meet with Mr. Cook to describe grade level programs, facilitate tours of the building, and entitle potential students to shadow grade level classrooms. Mr. Cook asks all Blessed Sacrament Parents to notify interested families to schedule an appointment with Mr. Cook at 203-756-5313.


Professional Development for Blessed Sacrament Parents and surrounding community members are invited to meet with Blessed Sacrament Teachers to support reading improvement in PreK-8 students. A meeting will be held in the BSS gym on April 29th from 6:30-7:30 pm to introduce the program and then separate into grade level groups – PreK– K, 1-2, 3-5, 6-8. A sign up form will be available on the website and distributed to students to enroll in the Professional Development opportunity. Childcare, along with evening activities in the gym, will be provided from 6:30-7:30 pm under the direction of Physical Education Teacher Elizabeth Genest and other teacher paraprofessionals.


Reminder: April 1st there is no school for students; April 4th is early dismissal.


3rd Marking Period ended March 28th. Student eligibility to play sports in the Spring will be released April 4th. Students must achieve a 74 percentile to have the privilege of playing sports.


Check your calendar for the Honor Roll Awards Breakfast on April 11th, for students only.


The Gospel Values Award Breakfast will be on April 25th for students and parents. Due to the increased costs for food supplies, we ask that parents/guardians donate $3 per guest the day of the event. No charge for awardees.


Check the calendar for the final round of the talent show to be held April 25th. Parents of first round winners are invited to attend.


All parents are invited to the weekly school Prayer Service, advertised in the Bulletin and website calendar.

Fundraisers this weekend for the State Junior Varsity Blessed Sacrament Boys Basketball Team, who will be going to the Eastern Regional Championship in Rhode Island next weekend, will encompass the following:

Bake sale after Mass

Pancake Breakfast from 9 am - 1 pm on Sunday in Cafeteria

Monetary Donations will also be accepted

The Blessed Sacrament State of the School Report will be available for viewing on-line next Monday. It is important that all parents planning on registering for the next school year, read the report. Any questions, e-mail John Cook at jcook@bsswaterbury.

Reminder – No School April 1st:
There will be no school on Tuesday, April 1st. This date is designated by the Office of Catholic Schools as a Professional Development day for teachers, who will be attending a Catholic Educators Faith Conference.
School Uniforms:
Parents, please check the Family Handbook regarding school uniform requirements. Except on designated dress-down days, students should be dressed in school uniform. If a student is not dressed in proper school attire, parents will be called to come into school with the appropriate uniform for their child.
School Arrival Time:
Again, parents please check the Family Handbook. The main door on Robinwood Road is to be used by Busers and parents/students who are arriving after 8:45 am. Students are considered late if they arrive at 8:55 am or after.  Late students MUST be signed in by a parent. No late drop-offs, please.
Comedy Club:
On Saturday April 12th, a Dinner and Comedy Show will be held at the Ponte Club from 6:30 to 11:00 pm to support the graduating 8th grade class. This event is for persons 21 years of age or older. Please note that there are a limited amount of tickets which are already selling fast. We hope to see many BSS parents, friends, and family at this event. It will be a fun filled night! Please contact Diane Printz or Kirsta Mowad for tickets.
8th Grade Retreat:
On April 10th the 8th grade class will be going to the Holy Family Passionist Retreat Center in West Hartford.  During the retreat, the students will explore the self-sacrificial love of Christ and the unconditional love of God. This retreat is a wonderful opportunity for Blessed Sacrament students to reflect and be inspired during this Lenten season. They will experience the tranquility of this holy place, participating in Mass, listening to the experienced facilitators, and enjoying live music. The retreat day is from 9:30 am until 2:30 pm. The cost is $25 per student, which includes lunch and snack. Permission slips will be going home with students shortly.
1st Grade Service Project:
The 1st grade class will be selling cupcakes on Wednesday, March 12th to benefit the March of Dimes. The cost is $1 per cupcake, which will be sold during the lunch periods. Please support the 1st graders in their efforts to raise money for this worthy cause.
Laurelton Hall Shadowing:
7th grade girls will have the opportunity to spend a day shadowing at Laurelton Hall from March 19 through April 30. If interested, please contact Laurelton Hall at 203-877-2786 to set up an appointment.
HSA Meeting – March 19th
Please plan on attending the HSA meeting on Wednesday, March 19th at 6 pm. The principal will present the State of the School address, as well as review tuition rates and fees for the 2014-2015 school year. Also, you will have an opportunity to meet the candidates for HSA Officers, which you will be voting for in the near future.

We Need Your Help
