Third Grade

Welcome to Third Grade!

The winter seems to want to stay and stay!  The children can't wait to be able to go out on the playground again!

In reading we have finished Charlotte's Web, and Stuart Little.  We will be reading Trumpet of the Swan next.

In math the children are learning their division facts.  We will be doing a STEM project that uses geometry and measurement.  The children will be designing and building a playground.  It will be a polygon with five or more sides and have a perimeter of 75 inches.  One simple machine must be used on the playground.  I can't wait to see what they come up with!  STEM not only encompasses math and science but the children learn to collaborate.  It is interesting to see them try and fail, and have to change plans and try again.

In religion we will be focusing on Lent and the Paschal Mystery.   We have been learning just how important Easter is to our faith and that it  is the crux of our Catholic faith.

God Bless,

Mrs. Whitlock
